Why we started this pujo

A Piece of Kolkata, in the
Heart of Hinjewadi

Hundreds of Bengali families made Pune's IT hub their home for work—and every October, our hearts still flew 2,000 kilometres east, back to the sound of the dhaak and the smell of Shiuli flowers. So this year, the residents of Hinjewadi came together to build the Pujo we missed.

This is Oitijhyo—meaning heritage—and it is ours. Rebuilt far from home, celebrated in the heart of our new community, and open to every neighbour who wants to be part of it.

As we mark our very first year, we are proud to dedicate this Pujo to the theme of Women Empowerment—a tribute to Maa Durga herself, the eternal symbol of strength, courage, and grace. Just as she embodies Shakti in her purest form, this year's celebrations honor the women in our lives and communities—their resilience, their achievements, and the strength they bring to every home.

  • Started by residents, for residents—a true sarbojonin Pujo, born from community spirit
  • Shastriya rituals, performed with a purohit brought specially from Kolkata
  • A theme of Women Empowerment, honoring the Shakti within every woman
  • Our children grow up knowing their oitijhyo—carrying this heritage forward, one Pujo at a time
